wow, just wow. You have perfectly worded exactly how I feel about our crazy institution of learning. I seriously almost cried. i <3 CAMS aka my home.
And I got kind of offended when she said our school was weird. Trust me. I agree that it’s out of the ordinary. It’s not your typical high school. The closest thing we have to fighting is bitching on formspring. We don’t have a football team. In fact, we hear more about robots than our sports teams. We only have two languages to choose from. There are less than 1,000 students at our school… The list of anomalies goes on and on.
Despite the shortcomings of our school, I have to admit that I actually enjoyed attending. There were some moments when I all I wanted to do was get the hell out, but I’m glad that I stayed all four years. There is something fundamentally amazing about suffering through all kinds of hardships with around 140-150 other people for four long, trying years. The mass all-nighters, the long periods of sleep-deprivation, those nice moments when there was barely any homework… We all went through that together. There definitely are cliques at our school, but they aren’t that “rigid.” At CAMS, you can say “hi” to anyone. You won’t get a glare or a “WTF are you doing?” or a “What do you want?” At the least, you get a wave or an unsure “uh, hey” back. At the most, you get a huge hug. This atmosphere is what makes CAMS unique. Truthfully, I probably would not be the same person today if I had attended a different high school. That “me” I had kept bottled up inside during middle school was finally let out of that cage called conformity and normalcy. And so, I treasure CAMS because it gave me the courage to show the world who I really am.
So please, don’t hate on my high school. It’s like you’re hating on me.
